I KNOW, I should learn awk. but cut is SO intuitive.
-d Specify delimiter in single quotes, e.g ',' or ' '
-f field or fields, eg
3 Third field
5- fifth to end
-6 beginning to sixth
5-9 fifth to ninth
(all inclusive)
5- fifth to end
-6 beginning to sixth
5-9 fifth to ninth
(all inclusive)
-b is bytes and -c is characters, but meh.
Consider using with rev
