test edit

Afterschool STEM program with the Jane and John Marks Foundation and Ladies Learning to Lead.

We need people in two possible capacities; "lead instructors" and "team helpers."

Lead instructors would be responsible for directing 1 or more of our teaching sessions which will be detailed below; solid experience in the topic would be required.

Qualifications for "team helpers" is a bit more relaxed; any college-level student with an aptitude and interest in learning about our IT related topics would qualify. We can take nearly any willing IT/ICT student for this.

We are seeking approximately 2-5 lead instructors and 5 to 12 team helpers.

Dates: Jan 19th - May 3. Thursdays, 2:30-5:30. Sat, Jan 26th will be an (optional) STEM competition where the girls will showcase their ideas and interact with local leaders.

Location: Apalachee Ridge Tech Center, 937 Kendall Drive, Tallahassee FL.

Topics: The focus of the program will be programming and hacking the Raspberry Pi, a Linux based single-board computer. So, all of the following are helpful, but, as indicated before, any motivated IT student should be able to be a team helper.

- Basic Linux skills
- File management
- Installing Programs in Linux

- Using basic office software
- HTML/CSS
- Web Server Admin

Training: John Marks, Lucas Von Hollen and other helpers will be available to provide training @ FSU on mutually agreeable times, Mondays and/or wednesdays, TBA.

Please forward any questions you may have to John Marks - jmarks@fsu.edu
