Linux and the answer to life

Okay, I'm kinda cheating and starting a day early - But. I have a new computer, and also my 42nd birthday nears (hence the catchy title. If you don't get it, man, you're missing out). I figure this is a good opportunity to force myself to document a whole bunch of what I know about Linux et al. I'll try to document the setup of the new computer as best I can. What's nice now is that my old computer works just fine, it's the end of the semester, and I have the opportunity to take it slow and try to do everything right.
