A little "management"
Technology Disconnect
“I've got a great idea,” says the non-
programmer, “I just need a geek to code it up
for me and we (meaning I) will make
millions!”
Technology Disconnect
Not difficult to see why; to the layperson:
- It looks like magic
- open source contribution is undervalued
- many ideas have not yet been successfully executed
The Mythical Man Month
If 1 person can dig 1 ditch in 1 day--
Then 2 people can dig 2 in a 1 day
8 people can dig 1 in an hour.
But what about websites or apps?
Scale, Long Tails, Black Swans
Mediocristan
v.
Extremistan
"Mediocristan"
What we "expect"
Natural, normal, bell curves, from nature
The AVERAGE matters, you can predict things from it
"Extremistan"
Unnatural, human "technology and rules" creating EXTREMES
Black Swans, Long tails.
The *EXTREMES* cause change, and therefore unpredictable

Software, IT, and SCALE
So "SCALE" and IT.
Tech takes jobs, or it's all artificial?
Which econ world?
Adam Smith?
Karl Marx?
THORSTEIN VEBLEN?
AI?
Such an advance, it makes us rethink...
AI?
Such an advance, it makes us rethink...
maybe what was already happening?
AI
It's ALREADY "democratized"
AI, Money, Bubble?
...yikes
AI - Deeper
- AI Psychosis is Real
- AI is real
- AI Art is happening
AI Psychosis
AI Art
The unavoidable
Slop will be everywhere, it's already here
AI Art..but
It's ALWAYS going to be really hard to make
money or a living to do something that s
omeone else will do for free FOR FUN
AI Art
I'm not too worried;
see .e.g
Photoshop
Photography
etc...
AI Art
Real talk, right now I see:
Mediocres worried
Geniuses excited
(might it just be the new turntables)
AI stuff and you
Tech wise, no worries
Way more solutions, which is good because
WAY MORE PROBLEMS
AI overinvestment
Very obvious.
LOL

Are they all
"Bullshit" jobs?
(technical term, kinda)
Software
Linux "won," but now what?
Cryptocurrency?
Learn about it, maybe
Whether you like it or not
"Flippening imminent?"
"Bitcoin"
vs
"Ethereum and all the others?"
Tech knowledge
and
"conspiracy theories?"
Where is the underground?
This may be important.
Big OLD Idea
A small, cheap Linux box with a hard drive
that you keep at your house, connected to the
internet.
Big OLD Idea
Aka . . . Freedom instead of slavery.
Freedombox and Self-Hosting
Today,
- Music
- Gaming
- Filesharing (really, do try Syncthing)
Tomorrow?
- Mesh Networking
- Decentralized Social Media?
- YOUR DATA - YOUR HOME - YOUR PROPERTY?
Who owns your data?
But
Linux didn't have to DOMINATE to "win"
And I hate to admit it
But maybe EVERYONE isn't into this?
BUT BUT
Maybe it's not that YOU have to do it..
But you should know SOMEONE who does?
(as in, do you know a car girl/guy?
Is it about ethical platforms?
This is the new idea.
Platforms are everywhere;
and not all of them are evil
Evaluate
Steam v Netflix v Github v Roblox v Unity v Unreal
Okay, what to do?
- Turn off notifications
- Curate your content
Get you a Linux???(This pains me)- At least KNOW what the Linux is
Turn off notifications
Thats what I do
Is it from a human right now? Do you really need it?
Curate your content
You may not have a lot of choices in your life:
But one you do:
What you shove in your brain in your free
time.
You have COMPLETE control over this.
Occasional junk food is fine, but maintain a
healthy diet.
Curate your Content (by you)
If you care about it, get it in your hand. Your
actual physical hand.
Buy a hard drive (or two!) and copy those
pictures, movies, songs etc.
(syncthing!)
What else?
I'm figuring that out too
