Shout out to the heroes who followed directions.

As an exercise, check those out. Vs. Those walls of text.

Grammar and spell checkers?

Limited use, I think.
Especially as compared to "Just Read A Lot"

Sheer volume of social media

vs...

Volume of "Classics"

Interesting

On the practice of writing

Read a lot

...especially of what you write. This is probably the most important.
(this is a little strange for sales though, we probably get enough?)

Read a lot

and learn to watch like a writer.
Look for patterns and other "behind the scenes" ideas and tricks
(yes this is "spoilery," but you'll get over it.)

Editing is more important than writing

Get the first draft out quickly and get it overwith;
This has a number of useful effects.

Consider your Purpose

Why are you writing what you are writing? ..see also

Consider your Audience

This is largely "ethos" — for me, a balance of:
Music and Manners
vs.
Don't be condescending. Be sincere

Consider your STRUCTURE

Make things easy for your reader..
..especially if they are NOT a captive audience*

which, I think, might be the biggest difference between school writing and real-life.
School is easier, they HAVE to read every word. Theoretically .

"External Business Communication"

  1. Communicating News or Information
  2. Image Building
  3. Potential Customers

On Sales

Specific StrategiesP

This is *different* from school writing.

(so, we will lean into this)

Originality?

No more authenticity? or

Originality?

Why didn't Beethoven make dubstep?
