COMPLETE VM SecNet Instructions
Created Tuesday 15 September 2020
Here are the complete VM SecNet Instructions
- Visit http://labs.cci.fsu.edu
- Click "Virtual Machine Connection"
- This MAY seamlessly open up to your RDP/Remote Desktop Program, especially if you are in windows. If not, it will download an "rdp" file, which is a simple text file containing an RDP configuration. You will need to find either the Mac version of Windows Remote Desktop, or a similar tool (e.g. Remmina) for Linux.
(more info here ../remotelabs-linux-2.pdf )
- You may be presented with another login page for your RDP program BEFORE you get to "Virtual Machine Connection." Enter your FSUID, password — Domain will be: fsu.edu. If you already see the "Virtual Machine Connection" login page, skip this step.
- At the Virtual Machine Connection Page, you'll see "Server" and "Virtual Machine" First, in Server, type SecNet - this will cause the "Virtual Machine" dropdown to populate — scroll down and choose your machine, Click OK.
- You should soon see a Xubuntu login area ("helpdesk" will probably be the user. Change this to "admin" and login with the password, given in the CANVAS ANNOUNCEMENT)
- That should do it for getting in! You should see a basic desktop with a blue mouse menu in the upper left hand corner. (And a ghosty Floppy Disk icon, what year is it even?)
GO DO THE First Day Secnet Lab if you haven't already.
